It is the best wool available in the market and is one of the softest types of wool available, because of finer fibers. Merino wool is common in high-end, performance athletic wear and gear. Typically meant for use in running, hiking, skiing, mountain climbing, cycling, hunting and in other types of outdoor aerobic exercise, these clothes and accessories command a premium over synthetic fabrics. Merino is excellent at regulating body temperature, it draws moisture away from the skin. Like most wools, merino contains lanolin, which has antibacterial properties, resulting in reduced human body odor.
